Last year, PVP Newton Director Kelly Cisneros established the Waiting for a Miracle program to aid the children of Tierra Adentro, Colombia, a village near Kelly’s own hometown. The program was such a success (see our September update) that we are doing it again!
This year we will be focusing on backpacks and school supplies, in order to support the children in school. Kelly’s goal is to collect 300 backpacks, each of which will be filled with supplies. Kelly’s mother will personally deliver the items to the children before their school year starts in February. The specific items we are seeking are:
- Backpacks
- Rulers, compasses
- Erasers
- Markers/Sharpies
- Crayons
- Pencils
- Pens
- Glue sticks
- Notebooks
- Pencil sharpeners
- Laptops for the schools
- Calculators
- Dry erase markers
