Pine Village and Walk for Hunger: Project Bread

1 in 10 households and 1 in 8 children here in MA do not
have enough food to eat. This has long term implications for the health and
future of our communities. Project Bread is a statewide anti-hunger nonprofit
working to end hunger throughout the state. Project Bread meets people where
they are – in community health centers, schools, summer programs, libraries and
housing authorities, to increase access to affordable healthy food. Their 51st Annual
Walk for Hunger on Sunday May 5th on Boston Common benefits hundreds of community
hunger-relief program in MA.

A PVP South Street mom of two, Liz Greenhalgh oversees this
event that brings together elected officials, businesses and more than 10,000
people from across the state to make a bold statement that hunger in
unacceptable in Massachusetts. We have offered to help out by raising awareness
for this important issue that disproportionately impacts the Latinx community
by sharing event details with the Pine Village community:

Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger & 5k Run

3 route options: 3 mile walk (new this year!), traditional
20 mile walk, 5k run

All routes are kid and stroller friendly

Free for youth 18 and under

There will also be
free, family friendly activities on open to the public on Boston Common from
10-5. Activities include:

  • Revolution Soccer’s “Big Kick”
  • Giant inflatable slide and obstacle
    course
  • Live music – The Unoriginals and
    Life Got Busy
  • Balloon art
  • Face painting
  • Hands on learning at the Hunger
    Solutions Village
