Home-School Connection (Spanish Tip of the Week)

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are going to be reposting some of our “Spanish Tips of the Week”. Since we’ve just begun the new school year, we thought we’d start with one on the Home/School connection. Here goes!

Habla de la Escuela en Casa

A car ride or walk home can be a great opportunity to talk about school with the children. You can also discuss school at playtime, dinner time, or any time at home! Here are some helpful ways to use your Español when you do! Use some of these Q’s and A’s if you please.

Una oportunidad para hablar de la escuela con sus hijos puede ser en el carro o caminando para la casa. También pueden practicarlo durante la cena, cuando esten jugando, o cualquier hora del dia. Aquí les doy unos consejos para continuar a hablar en espanol en casa. Pueden utilizar las siguientes preguntas y respuestas.

Q: ¿Cómo te fue? (coe moe tay fway) How did it go?

A: Me fue: bien-well, muy bien {moo ee be en} (very well), más o menos {maws o may nose} (it went ok/so so), excelentemente [ex cell ent ah men tay} (excellently)

Q: ¿Qué hiciste hoy? (kay ee-see-stay oye) What did you do today?
