Dear Pine Village families. I’ve spent quite a bit of time thinking about how to wrap this insane school year up in a tidy little ribbon and sending off, down the long winding river of time. It has been quite a challenging year for everyone, parents, kids, teachers, directors, and administrators, and is, no doubt a year we are all ready to put behind us. But then my eternal optimist brain kicked into high gear and I could not help but feel such gratitude and joy thinking about all we have gone through together this school year. Looking back, it feels like we all climbed Mt. Everest together, and couldn’t have done it without the constant support from one another. |
As we reopened our doors on August 3, 2020, we did so with mixed feelings of relief, trepidation, caution, and excitement. The unknown was big, the rules were daunting, and the risks (at the time) felt overwhelming, but seeing those little faces smiling behind those masks (and yes we could see them) was the BEST medicine anyone could ever ask for. We are SO glad you came back to us. Together this year we’ve learned a lot. We watched as that very dim light at the end of the tunnel grew closer and brighter, to the point we are today. We could not have done it without the compassion, understanding, and determination from each and every one of you, our Pine Village parents, guardians, extended families, and friends. It was a herculean effort to get here. But here we are. We’ve made it to the end of the school year 2020-2021. Thank you for allowing us to care for your children. It has brought us such joy, literally, every single day. Thank you for getting up early and driving or walking through rain and snow to get to school on time. Thank you for reading all our notes and emails. Thank you for packing yummy nutritious lunches and snacks. Thank you for supporting our teachers with such generosity and love. Thank you for entrusting us with your most precious gift. We thank you for abiding by and understanding the endless rules and regulations (and the endless changes to those rules and regulations). And finally, thank you for embracing multiculturalism, bilingualism, creativity, individuality and loving every single human, no matter their colors, beliefs, choices or natural born gifts. |
